Temple details
- About this temple
Originally constructed in 1801 by Laxman Vithu Patil at the request of Deubai Patil, the temple was built so childless women could pray for offspring. The presiding deity, Lord Siddhivinayak, is a stunning black stone idol with a trunk turning to the right — considered a rare and highly auspicious form of Ganesha. The sanctum's wooden doors are intricately carved with the Ashtavinayak (eight forms of Ganesha), while the inner roof is plated with gold. The outer dome is beautifully illuminated each evening. Considered one of India's wealthiest temples, Siddhivinayak receives enormous donations from devotees. The famous Angarika Chaturthi — special Tuesdays during certain months — draws particularly massive crowds. A visit to this temple is considered essential for those beginning any new venture, seeking career success, or asking for removal of obstacles.
