Temple details
- About this temple
Located on the seventh peak of the Seshachalam Hills at 853 metres above sea level in Andhra Pradesh, the temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara — a form of Vishnu believed to have appeared on earth during Kali Yuga to protect humanity. The presiding deity is considered Swayambhu (self-manifested), making the temple one of the eight Svayam Vyakta Kshetras of Vishnu. Managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the temple celebrates an astounding 433 festivals in 365 days. The famous Tirupati Laddu prasadam carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The temple's iconic Ananda Nilayam Vimanam (gold-plated dome) and elaborate Dravidian architecture draw both devotees seeking wealth, health, and fulfillment of wishes, and visitors captivated by its cultural grandeur. Devotees traditionally offer their hair (tonsuring) as an act of devotion, a ritual unique to this temple.
